ARTIST'S STATEMENTWhen asked to define what makes Kentucky the great state it is, most people conjure up images of horses, covered bridges, Wildcat/Cardinal basketball, tobacco fields, the Kentucky Derby, whiskey, the hollers, bluegrass, etc. Those are all certainly representative, but I maintain that what really makes Kentucky a great place is the people that live here. The horses and bridges and the Derby are important for stability; they're necessary constants. They'll be around a long time. The people come and go, live and die, make contributions, keep things fluid, keep things moving, cause change. That's what interests me most. I paint people. That's my interest; that's my thing. |
